Wedding Woes

We're about 3 months from our big day.  You can imagine my posts might reference the wedding more so than usual.  We have both been in wedding mode lately.  "Is this done, did we do that, whats next on the list, oh crap we forgot all about that!"  Curious what we forgot about?  Only our wedding bands, no biggie.  I was reading a bridal magazine who suggested that couples order their wedding bands around the six month marker.  Does anyone else think this is ridiculous?  Well we thought so, until we went to a jeweller.  Turns out some ring orders can take up to 2 months.  Had no clue.  We have a good idea of what Nate wants and found out that the ring he is interested in is a special order, but only takes three weeks to stock.  Whew.  My ring is a different story.  First of all, my engagement ring was custom made so to find a ring that truly suits it would need to be, you guessed it...custom made.  We don't have time or the moola for another custom made ring so I need to find something that works and place the order like a month ago.  If only I weren't the most indecisive person alive otherwise I might be looking forward to this task.  I'll keep you posted.

Another wedding woe, the flowers need to be changed...again.  Initially I wanted garden roses and hydrangeas, after I was told that wouldn't work out because there was no valid delivery date given the holiday that week.  So I opted for a more hearty flower that would last from Tuesday until Saturday without wilting...but none of the available flowers really gave me the look I was going for.  Have I figured out what I want instead?  Nope.  But I'm working on it.

The mens attire.  Also not figured out.  I am having Nate decide what he wants the guys to wear, I have a pretty good idea of what he wants, but I can't find it anywhere.  Do we buy? Do we rent?  How soon does this need to be done?  I know for girls, they usually have their dresses months before the wedding, I have had my dress since August.

We've also opted to get back into shape, but I'm wondering if we started early enough.  Nate being in hockey all his life, has never really had to worry about being out of shape, until last year when he retired from hockey.  As for myself, I was always enthusiastic about working out, I love running.  But I can also be super lazy once I get into a routine, so we made a new one which includes a trip to the gym 5 times a week. One great thing about my dress though is that it is incredibly forgiving.  Regardless, I have a goal and I will reach it.  If nothing else, it will help me to deal with all these wedding woes.  Wish us luck!

  1. haha i was the same way with my wedding! i always knew what i wanted Malc to wear..... but couldnt find it, so he ended up wearing a suit he already owned! oh well:/
You dont NEED a wedding band! i have only one ring, its the meaning that counts, not the quantity:)
I have no advice about flowers, besides fake ones, obviously normally they looks tacky but i had one bride in the past that made a fake bouquet and it was done SO well i thought it was real until i touched it!

  2. Thanks for the advice Lea! I am playing around with the idea of a few fake flower elements, also I am looking into dried flowers for the bouquets (lavender, babys breath) so very cost efficient. Who knows, maybe even the centerpieces will be dried...or no flowers at all. Hmmm, time to get creative :)

  3. Hi Ash,
Just an idea for the flowers...the site I went with FiftyFlowers.com ships flowers in bulk all the time.
I had my local florist put the boquets together using the flowers that were shipped from there. They are way cheaper, better quality and reliable.
    Check it out!
Good luck--also where are you registered?

  4. Hi Chick!! Fifty flowers is actually the site I am using! I had no idea you used them for your wedding. I'm excited to work with them, the reason I can't have the flowers I want is because silly me decided to get married on a holiday weekend. Their workers are off on Wednesday which means my order wouldn't go out until Friday or Saturday (not enough time for me to get my flowers and let them open). So I need a Tuesday delivery. See the predicament? I'll figure something out :) Thank you!
