The Ultimate Beauty Product

You may remember when I was subscribing to Luxe Box and this post where I admitted my cosmetic ignorance. The purpose of the Luxe Box was to introduce myself to the world of beauty products and ultimately find products that worked for me.  I am pleased with the experience, but I have recently cancelled my subscription.  I began using less and less of the samples they were sending me, the "help yourself" basket in our guest bathroom is teeming with designer fragrances and high-end bath and beauty samples.

So why did I stop using these great samples? I realized it wasn't the caliber of product I was using, it was the user.  It seems I need simple products that require minimal effort and above all, do what they're supposed to do.  Is that too much to ask?  I didn't think so.  That's when someone told me if I wanted to find the best beauty products I should visit the grocery store not the drugstore.  I listened and in my opinion, I found the ultimate beauty product.  Coconut oil.

I might be the last person on the Earth to hop on the coconut oil bandwagon, but better late than never right?  The truth is, I had just never thought of it as a beauty product.  Now I can't imagine my non-existent beauty regime without it.  My hair has never looked or smelled better, my complexion never clearer, and my lips never softer.  Anyone else have those annoying tiny red bumps on the back of your arms? Apparently half of the world's population has them and I'm one of 'em.  It's called keratosis pilaris and it turns out a prescribed cream is not necessary to combat it.  Just a dab of coconut oil as part of your post-shower routine and they're history.

Here's a few more ways to use the wonder product.  Coconut oil is solid at room temperature and liquifies in the palm of your hand.  Add a few tablespoons to your bath or use it as an in-shower moisturizer.  Add some sugar to the solid state and you have a moisturizing exfoliant to use on lips, face and body.  Heat up a few tablespoons by setting the tub in warm water and add the warm oil to your dry hair, leave it in for as little as 15 mins or the whole day if you want ( the longer the better) then shampoo your hair as usual.  It really is a miracle product and these are only a few aesthetic capabilities.  It is a food after all, one that works wonders for our insides.  I'm trying that next.  I'll keep you posted!
