Guilty

I am that person.  You know, the absent blogger.  I said I wouldn't allow myself to become one.  I feel guilty though, because I didn't miss it.  In fact, the only thing I did miss was reading all the beautiful blogs I follow, which has respectively stopped as well.  I have a few theories as to why, or lets be honest here, excuses.

Excuse #1: I don't have a computer. When it crashed a few months ago I sought frantically to replace it.  We bought an iPad instead.  I quickly realized typing on an iPad wasn't for me, so I simply just couldn't be bothered with blogging.  I avoided it at all cost as if I had a life-threatening allergy to touch-screen typing.  Seeing as this post was written on the iPad and I'm still alive, I guess now I was being a bit dramatic.

Excuse #2: Too busy.  Nate and I have been doing a bit of traveling lately.  In November we finally took that honeymoon.  We went to Tulum, Mexico and it was spectacular.  Then, just a few weeks later we went to Michigan for two weeks to spend the holidays with my side of the family.  I hadn't been home since our wedding in July, so I was in need of serious Honkanen-Time.  I found myself saying "well, I wouldn't be blogging right now anyway," I'd be making the most of every minute.  Really it was just another excuse.  Lucky for my blog, my New Years resolution was to stop making excuses.

Excuse #3: Uninspired.  I know, I just told you we'd had some great adventures, but I felt incapable of doing them justice with words.  When I started blogging, it was easy.  I just wrote whatever I wanted, whether it was interesting or not.  Now, I feel there is more pressure in the blogger world to live up to the expectation of the audience.  I simply cannot compete with the captivating blogger, so how do I keep my readers?  Is my blog even interesting? Then I remember, I didn't start this blog to win any awards, I did it for my friends and family back home.  They won't critique me.  And it seems they are still interested in our lives here in Edmonton.  For you, I will begin...again.
