Nate

Today is Nate's 30th birthday. I remember when I thought the big 3-0 was so old. I have heard the saying, 30 is the new 20, and I firmly believe that to be true. It is just a number after all. While I am done now defending his age, I must tease a little. For the next 3 months Nate is 4 years older than me. Now I'm not referring to our 4 year age difference as strange, its nothing if not ordinary...what I'm getting at is slightly more devious. I'm still in my twenties. Poor Nate has to put up with my age-related jabs for a few more years. Sorry, hunny. Ok, time to get serious. Because I know he reads my blog, I will share a little love note.

A Small Reflection on the Amazing Accomplishments of Your Twenties.

You moved to Michigan on a hockey scholarship to Lake State. You turned 21 and could finally, legally, drink with your teammates...hooray for no more fake IDs. You led your team honorably as their Captain. You became an uncle. You met me and forever changed my life in the most amazing ways. You graduated University with a Bachelor's degree in Business...on the house. You became and uncle, again. You were there through 4 fuel pumps in the Jimmy, finally selling that POS and buying our first new car. You lived, playing pro hockey, in Idaho, Texas, England and Michigan. In England, you earned your MBA...on the house. Together, we travelled to Rome, Venice, Barcelona, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and England.  We went on our first tropical vacation to the Caribbean. You moved back home to Edmonton after 13 years and took me with you. You began a career in the oil industry, was promoted after 5 months. You asked me to marry you...I said yes.

This is just the beginning.  I am so proud of you and I am so looking forward to seeing what the next 30 years has in store for us.  Happy Birthday Nate!
