Easy Centerpiece

A friend of mine was asking me to share a project I had worked on in Edmonton, lucky for her, I documented the DIY with the intentions of blogging it I just needed a little motivation to get it out there.  I was dabbeling with an idea for a centerpiece whether it be for the reception or just for the home.  My inspiration was from my cousin's wedding two summers ago...we had made these silk flower ball decorations and hung them from the trees, they looked wonderful.  And then I was browsing around a special event store and ran into them again, this time they were displayed on a candlestick.  I was hooked, I had to try one.  This is the photo from the event store :

I love the white candlestick.

And these are my creations.

What you'll need:
Silk flowers, I used 4 hydrangea stems per centerpiece
Floral foam ball, I used a 5 inch ball
Candlestick
Glue Gun
Scissors

Its really very simple to do.  Get together all of the materials, for the candlesticks, you can really use anything you have around the house, here is a pic of the ones I used:

Then begin cutting the flowers from the stems:

Take the individual flowers and stick them into the foam ball, secure them with a dab of hot glue:

Continue around until you cannot see the floral ball.

Secure the flower ball to the top of the candle stick with hot glue et voila you have a great centerpiece!

These are very simple and very affordable, on average, the cost to make one centerpiece should be between $10-$20 depending on the silk flowers you buy.  Craft stores are always having sales on silk flowers, so wait until they are the best price, then stock up.  Raid your local dollar store for the candlesticks if you need to, I found these at Dollarama for $2 a piece.  Happy crafting!
