Love Long Weekends

One of the many things Canadians love is their long weekends.  I fully appreciate this monthly break on their calendar and have wondered why America hasn't picked up on it.  Nate enjoyed the time off work and I enjoyed the time with Nate, it was nice to have him around on a weekday.  The weekend was full of some serious r&r.  We actually spent most of the weekend walking through showhomes, a favorite pastime of Edmontonians {and something entirely foreign to me as a yooper...showhomes just don't exist in small towns}.  To my surprise it was very entertaining, almost addicting...we are already making plans to check out more.  Now, we are in no position just yet to be buying a home here, especially when the average cost of a single family home in Edmonton is around $320,000...ummm yeah.  However, we didn't let our bank accounts stop us from checking out some of the most amazing showhomes.  It was pretty fun to walk in and pretend that we could afford some of these places.  We looked at all sorts of homes in all different price ranges, and oddly enough we found one we both really liked and financially it wasn't too far out of reach.  It was a townhome in a place called Lake Summerside, you can check out the floor plan we loved here and the showhome reps were very friendly and convincing that we could afford it, so.... WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!
Nope, just kidding, still homeless. Regardless, it was a great weekend and we topped it all off with an adorable little 2 year old's birthday party.  Happy birthday Michaela! This week is a busy one and we'll end it with a dinner party for our friends on Saturday, stay tuned for the party ideas I'm whipping up!
