Of course my friends and family are aware of the big move and my reasons for doing so, however, should this blog attract any readers on the outside, I'd like to fill you in.
I am from a small town in Michigan, and met Nate (mon petit couchon) while attending college. I studied chemistry and he played hockey for the university and obtained a degree in business. He graduated a year before me and decided to continue his career in hockey and moved to Texas. That year apart for us was difficult, as anyone with experience in long-distance relationships can relate. Not wanting another year apart, after I graduated, he signed another year-long contract with the team in Texas and I moved there to be with him. For the next three years, hockey brought us all over the globe, and has given us some of the most amazing opportunities. After the '09-'10 season, however, we decided together that it was time to "set down roots" so to speak. Hockey life is a wonderful life, but it is a nomadic one and can be exhausting. We decided to move to Edmonton, Alberta, Nate's hometown. The initial move took place this past September, my sister and I drove my belongings the 1650 miles, which lead to one very interesting road trip. Needless to say, we were quite ready to get out of that car (out of each others faces). Have I ever thanked you sis for making that drive with me :) So, now Nate and I are stepping through the rigorous process of permanent residency (a blog post…or venting session for another day) and ready to start a real, "grown-up" life together. Ready for the fireworks???
After six wonderful years together, HE PUT A RING ON IT! Yes, Nate and I are engaged! And among other things, we are so excited to be planning our wedding. Stay tuned for all the goods.
